Have fun with experiential learning!

Experiential learning is a hands-on approach to education that involves learning through experience and reflection. It is a learner-centric pedagogy that is at the center of attention due to its contributions to improving the value of education which centers on developing abilities and experiences.

We find several benefits of experiential learning for students. It creates real-world relevance and allows students to tune in more quickly and retain more information. It also engages learners and helps them retain information better than traditional classroom methods.

In the workplace, experiential learning can develop an employee’s capacity to adapt to new situations, bridge the gap between theory and practice, provide your team with a safe space to fail, deliver a stellar ROI for the company as a whole, and allow for accurate assessment of skills.

Some suggestions to implement experiential learning, base on an article from Forbes:

  • Have careful planning. After deciding on an experiential learning method, consider your goals and objectives for it.

  • Accommodate different students. Different students learn in different ways, so in creating an experiential learning activity, consider how each of your students might react.

  • Provide time for reflection. Reflection is an important part of the experiential learning process. It allows students to think about what they have learned and how they can apply it in the future.

  • Use technology. Technology can be a great way to enhance experiential learning. For example, virtual reality can be used to simulate real-world experiences.

  • Involve the community. Involving the broader community can demonstrate the power of this learning model far more than any formal professional development lecture or webinar.

  • Allow to participants create experiences to make a purposeful connection between what they’re learning and the world at large – and allow them to go at their own pace.

To implement experiential learning, you can engage in careful planning, accommodate different students, provide time for reflection, use technology, involve the community, and create experiences that allow participants to make a purposeful connection between what they’re learning and the world at large – and allow them to go at their own pace.

One tool that could be eventually used for this is the new Apple Vision Pro, a virtual reality headset that has the potential to revolutionize learning and training. The headset is designed to provide high-quality education and training to anyone, anywhere. This tool can help have experiences that educational traditional methods don´t provide.

Richard Tong is an experimental learning expert who has an opinion about Apple Vision Pro in the article published in Linkedin Apple Vision Pro, the Future of Experiential Learning and Multimodal Reasoning “I believe that Apple's Vision Pro VR headset will further enable integrated experiential learning in the future. When discussing the future of learning, there are several key aspects to consider. First, it will be learner-centric. Second, it will be experience-centric, meaning that students will learn by doing and exploring.”

Technology plays a crucial role in education by helping learners develop their skills. Processim Labs, for example, provides professional educational simulations to immerse learners in competitive and revolutionary learning experiences.
